Last week the Mountain Reservations marketing team took a trip up to The Canyons, in Park City for a Fam (familiarization) tour. That really means we took most of the day off and went skiing. I was joined by Craig, Adam, Josh B., Amy and Ryan. It was a bracing 6 degrees at the base when we arrived.I’d never ridden the Cabriolet from the parking lot, so right out of the car it was a different experience. Brenda Lytle from The Canyons met us at the base at 9:00 a.m. and let us know she was going to ski with us. We immediately jumped on the Orange Bubble Express and were wowed by the experience of having our back sides warmed on a lift ride. In addition, the ability to lower an “orange bubble” over you to cut the wind made the first lift ride one to
After riding back up Tombstone, we rode Red Pine Road where Craig found a great natural half pipe. As a side note, I’ve called his mother and told her he needs a helmet. I’d be skiing along the groomers and Craig would shoot off into the trees. Crazy kid.
Lunch at the Red Pine Lodge was hosted by The Canyons. Our crew ate everything from chili cheese dogs, to burgers, to an outstanding meatloaf sandwich. Sadly Adam had lost his keys and had to leave the group to meet a locksmith. His Fam Tour cost him 200 bucks. On an earlier run Ryan attempted to lose his phone, but fortunately I was skiing behind him and scooped it up as he flew down the mountain. Between losing stuff all over the mountain and Amy’s spill, we had an eventful day! After checking to make sure Amy wasn’t suffering from a concussion, we hit the slopes hard again in the afternoon. Actually, Amy and I made it another hour or so before turning in to the Alpine House for some après drinks with Sherry Weaver. The rest of the crew kept Brenda out until 3:30 riding all over the mountain. All in all the day was amazing, cloudy and cold in the morning and brilliant blue in the afternoon. The crew at The Canyons did a great job hosting the tour and making us feel welcome on the mountain and we’d like to thank them for their hospitality!
