Alta Ski Area

Consistently ranked among the top ski resorts for snow quality, terrain, and overall value by a myriad of skiing magazines, Alta is a favorite ski destination for locals and visitors alike. Outside Magazine has called Alta the number one resort in North America. Its unique position at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon affords it spectacular views, varied terrain, and routine annual snowfalls of more than 500 inches.

Alta opened its first lift in 1939, making it one of the oldest resorts in America. It has maintained its sense of classic tradition, and is one of only three remaining resorts in the United States to prohibit snowboarders. The resort features a variety of trails and diverse mountain terrain, from bowls, chutes, and moguls.

Alta ski area is friendly to beginners, allowing free access to the gentle slopes of Albion Basin and its rope tows, as well as full access to the detachable triple lift, Sunnyside, every day after 3 p.m. This service is a great opportunity to teach a friend or an inexpensive way to get accustomed to the resort.
